Every Kid Healthy Week
Every Kid Healthy™ Week is an annual celebration of school health and wellness achievements, specifically highlighting the link between nutrition, physical activity, and learning.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), establishing regular physical activity in childhood is essential to maintaining lifelong health and wellbeing. Students who are physically active also tend to have better grades, school attendance, cognitive performance, and classroom behaviors.
Adequate nutrition is also a determining factor in academic achievement. According to CDC, insufficient food intake is associated with students having lower grades, higher rates of absenteeism, and an inability to focus.
During Every Kid Healthy Week, schools are encouraged to host an event that promotes healthy eating, nutrition education, and physical activity.
