Advancing Racial Equity: The Time is Now!
This webinar, for Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Programs (APP) grantees, will focus on addressing racial equity. As health inequities continue to permeate our society, it is important for leaders to build their organization's capacity to address this issue. Grantees can play a vital role in advancing racial equity for the youth and families engaged in their programs. This session will explore the institutionalized, personally mediated, and structural mechanisms, which perpetuate differences in opportunities, stresses, and exposures that youth and families face. These mechanisms also impage access to and quality of services. Participants will learn practical strategies to act individually and collectively to address challenges and systemic barriers that impact the communities we serve.
At the conclusion of this 90-minute webinar, participants will be able to:
- Describe disparities, racial equity, and social determinants of health.
- Recognize factors in the social environment that can contribute to or impede the health of individuals and communities.
- Identify practical strategies and techniques to advance racial equity within their APP programming and to apply theory to practice.
Participants will have the opportunity to engage with our facilitators in an open discussion and question-and-answer session after the presentation.
