  • Thursday November 30: Foundations in Internalized Racism
  • Tuesday, December 5: Understanding and Decentering White Supremacy Culture
  • Wednesday, December 6: Navigating Change, Power, and Equitable Decision Making

  • Wednesday, December 13: DEI Strategic Planning II
  • Thursday, December 14: Activating your DEI Strategic Plan

An equitable society makes it less likely to be able to predict health outcomes based on race. The upcoming training will help Sexual Risk Avoidance Education (SRAE) grantees examine and address racial equity and other social factors that impact health and program outcomes.

The training will equip and empower grantees with tools, mindsets, and approaches to promote change at the individual level. The training will also prepare participants to explore organizational-level change. Participants will learn specific strategies to assess and address individual and organizational practices that may impact program delivery and outcomes based on race.

Participants must attend all seven sessions in this series. We recognize this is a significant time commitment and trust that you will take advantage of this professional and personal development opportunity that honors the phenomenal work you do to support youth who are vulnerable in your communities.

By the end of these trainings, participants will be able to:

  • Develop a shared language and analysis around diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Examine structural and systematic racism and how it manifests in individual (personal) experiences and organizational dynamics.
  • Assess racial equity within their organization and build a more equitable and inclusive organizational culture.
  • Engage in decision-making practices aimed to foster equitable outcomes and experiences for youth.
  • Identify and prioritize key areas to address through strategic planning.
  • Develop a diversity, equity, and inclusion strategic plan to promote more equitable delivery of SRAE programming.

Please note: This training is identical to the PREP topical training offered in 2022 entitled The Equity Paradigm: Foundations to Deliver More Equitable and Inclusive PREP Programs. If you have previously completed this training, there is no need to register. If you have any questions about specific staff attendance for your grantee agency, please contact your Federal Project Officer.

Space is limited. One grantee per organization will be approved on a first come, first served basis. We strongly recommend that organizations register early to secure a place in the training series.

As a reminder, the Notice of Funding Opportunity requires grantees, at a minimum, to have two key staff people attend one of two topical trainings offered each year. A second training will be offered in February or March of 2024.
