Getting Social Savvy – Helping Youth Navigate Social Media
Nearly all teens have access to and use social media. According to the Pew Research Center, in 2022, 95% of teens have used social media and the same percentage have access to a smartphone. This webinar, tailored for facilitators delivering Personal Responsibility Education Program (PREP) curricula, will highlight what we know about the research related to social media and youth. Participants will also have an opportunity to learn about tools and resources that are available from social media platforms to empower youth to have a safe experience on these platforms. More specifically, participants will have an opportunity to learn from both a researcher and industry expert on how social media can be optimized to enhance the benefits and minimize the risks. Participants will have an opportunity to ask questions and share their experiences about how they are integrating social media into their work with youth.
