National Physical Fitness & Sports Month

Event Date:
-

Only about 1 in 5 adolescents fully meet the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services’ physical activity guidelines. Regular physical activity is extremely important for good health — it can have immediate and long-term benefits for all age groups, including improved cognition and reduced symptoms of depression among youth.

To tackle physical activity, a national initiative has been established by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to help 27 million Americans become more physically active by 2027. Take part in encouraging youth in your community to stay active!

Get Involved:

  • Explore the tools and resources from the Move Your Way campaign, a physical activity campaign from the Department of Health and Human Services.
  • Get tips from CDC on how you can integrate physical activity into your out-of-school adolescent pregnancy prevention programs.
  • Learn about the physical activity recommendations for different age groups and populations.
  • Visit the CDC’s Tools for Action page for ideas on how to get involved based on your profession or interests.
