(PREP) Engaging Youth in Rural Communities
The purpose of the cluster call is to provide Personal Responsibility Education Program (PREP) grantees with an opportunity to dialogue and exchange ideas with one another. The cluster call will focus on how to engage youth in rural settings in programming. Resources will be made available for each of the topics. Grantees will have the opportunity to share important themes, lessons learned, and take-aways for their program. They will be encouraged to share examples of successful strategies and significant obstacles to engaging youth in rural communities. The call will include discussion on the following:
- Strategies to recruit and retain rural youth in prevention programming;
- Overcoming challenges to retaining rural youth such as scheduling conflicts, experience barriers, transportation; and
- Tips to think about when using hosting events in rural settings.
During the cluster call, participants will have the opportunity to share their experiences, expertise, resources, and questions with other grantees. The moderator will facilitate the dialogue on the topics listed above, and we request that you be prepared to engage in the discussion.
