PREP Share and Learn Engaging Incarcerated Youth
Incarcerated youth face a significant yet challenging journey as they prepare for eventual reentry into their communities after being in secured care. Engaging multiple partners, including the justice system and community-based supports to wrap around and provide impactful services to address youths’ needs and challenges requires careful planning, coordination, and continuous quality improvement. This discussion will address challenges related to establishing partnerships with judicial agencies and implementation along with opportunities for providing services to youth while they are in secured care. We will explore effective strategies for coordinating efforts and improving engagement to support these youth throughout their time in the carceral system, and eventual reentry into their communities.
This call will provide Personal Responsibility Education Program (PREP) working with incarcerated youth a platform to exchange ideas, share challenges, and discuss effective strategies for engagement. During this call, we invite grantees to share their experiences, tools, and resources to improve program outcomes for incarcerated youth.
This will offer grantees an opportunity to:
- Network with each other
- Discuss challenges and successes in engaging incarcerated youth.
- Share practical tools and resources.
- Identify key areas to enhance engagement and support.
