PREP Share and Learn: Mentoring in Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Programming
Mentoring has been shown to improve outcomes related to mental health, sexual health, overall well-being and education for youth. It is also an opportunity for youth to develop supportive relationships with adults outside of their families. Mentoring can be a way to extend the impact of your Personal Responsibility Education Program (PREP). During this Share and Learn we will discuss specific strategies and practices that can be used to incorporate a mentoring component in your program. We will explore the benefits and challenges of mentoring programs and offer grantees an opportunity to learn from an expert who has developed a sexual health program with a mentoring component.
This session will provide an opportunity for you to:
- Network with fellow grantees and share experiences.
- Discuss real-world challenges and solutions to developing a mentoring component for your PREP program.
- Exchange tools and resources to learn about mentoring.
During this session, we will cover:
- The benefits of including a mentoring component in your work with youth.
- Strategies for incorporating a mentoring component into your PREP program.
- Best practices for supporting mentees and mentors.
