(SRAE) Like, Love, Follow: Understanding Teen Dating Violence in the Digital World

Event Date:
-

Teen dating violence (TDV) is “a pattern of coercive, intimidating, or manipulative behaviors used to exert power and control over a partner,”1 and can include physical violence, sexual violence or coercion, psychological aggression, and stalking,2 among other abusive behaviors. This interactive webinar focuses on how TDV affects the physical, mental, and sexual health of youth and how it impedes on their overall well-being. The webinar will introduce foundational knowledge and concepts around language, prevalence, and complex dynamics of TDV. Then, the presenters will expand the session to include the impact of the digital world (i.e., websites, social media, apps etc.) and its role in how TDV manifests among young people today. This webinar also covers strategies SRAE grantees can implement to help prevent and address TDV within the realms of grant requirements, including programming to promote healthy relationships. By the end of this webinar, attendees will be better equipped to recognize TDV in-person and online and understand the impact it has on youth. Additionally, attendees will be provided with an extensive resource list that includes ways to support youth who may be experiencing TDV in their communities.
