STI Awareness Week
Event Date:
-
STI Awareness Week is a time for young people to learn the facts about sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and how they can protect themselves. STIs affect individuals of all ages; however, youth ages 15 to 24 account for almost half of all new cases and are at greater risk of getting an STI than older individuals for several reasons, such as being hesitant to talk openly with their medical provider, lacking health insurance or transportation, and having more than one sex partner. During STI Awareness Week, help spread information to bring awareness to this issue and share prevention strategies with youth in your community.
Get Involved:
- Help teens learn about sexually transmitted infections (STIs) — share information from We Think Twice or download and share our youth-friendly infographic.
- Implement a campaign from the official STI Awareness Week campaign toolkit to get started on planning out your organization’s activities.
- Refer youth to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Get Tested tool, which helps users locate an STD testing site near them.
