Supporting Healthy Relationships and Mental Health Among Male Adolescents
This webinar will explore how Sexual Risk Avoidance Education (SRAE) grantees can support young male adolescents in their programs. The presenters will discuss key phases in male adolescent development and the current state of male adolescent health, including the personal, cultural, structural, and social factors that influence health. Presenters will share data from the Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) and Adverse Behaviors and Experiences Survey (ABES) to provide deeper insight into the state of male adolescent sexual and reproductive health as it relates to relationships and mental health. Next, presenters will explore the role of adolescent dating relationships in shaping health and well-being and delve into the contextual factors related to use and experiences of violence with intimate partners. Presenters will review frameworks that grantees can use to guide youth programs and will discuss strategies and opportunities for promoting sexual and reproductive health, mental health and healthy relationships for male adolescents.
