Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month
Event Date:
-
Teen dating violence (TDV) affects millions of teens in the United States each year. In 2021, 13.6% of students reported experiencing physical or sexual TDV in the past year. Dating violence can have serious consequences and lasting negative effects on the health and well-being of teens. Youth who are victims of TDV are more likely to experience depression and anxiety symptoms, engage in unhealthy behaviors, and are at higher risk for victimization throughout life.
Supporting and educating young people about healthy relationship skills is critical to reducing and preventing TDV. Join us in raising awareness and promoting healthy relationships!
Get Involved:
- Incorporate TDV prevention into your existing programming.
- Provide youth information and resources on how to establish and maintain healthy relationships of all types—with friends, romantic partners, family, classmates, teachers, coworkers, and others.
- Hear what young people have to say about building meaningful relationships by exploring the video series.
- View the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Dating Matters Toolkit to learn strategies for preventing TDV.
