Teen Dating Violence Awareness & Prevention Month
Join us this month in raising awareness about teen dating violence and the importance of healthy relationships! Love is Respect has named the 2022 theme, “Talk About It,” as a call to action for teens and their advocates to have conversations about unhealthy relationship dynamics and creating healthy connections.
Did you know that 1 in 3 teens will endure emotional, physical, or sexual abuse from a partner before they reach adulthood? Or that youth who are victims of dating violence are more likely to participate in risky behaviors, such as tobacco and alcohol use? Teen dating violence survivors are also more likely to experience anxiety, depression, and thoughts of suicide. Recognizing the characteristics of healthy and unhealthy dating relationships and learning how to get out of an abusive relationship are important for healthy adolescent development.
