Teaching Students with I/DD About Sexuality and Healthy Relationships

This interactive webinar offered an opportunity for Personal Responsibility Education Program (PREP) grantees to learn more about teaching program participants with intellectual or development disabilities (I/DDs). Sexual and reproductive health is an important aspect of human development, but discussions with adolescents with I/DD on this topic are often challenging for youth service providers and parents. As a result, many adolescents with I/DD do not receive appropriate, comprehensive sexual education. They are also at risk for unplanned pregnancy, sexually transmitted infections, being abused, and experiencing loneliness at a much higher rate than the general population. This webinar explores specific issues that students with I/DDs face and shares practical tools and skills for teaching this population about healthy sexuality.
