Community and Interpersonal Violence
In this episode, “Community and Interpersonal Violence,” Elevate Youth Programming sat down with Drs. Stacy Sechrist and Stefany Ramos from RTI International to discuss the impact of community and interpersonal violence on youth and APP programming. Creating safe and supportive trauma-informed spaces for all young people is essential in providing youth-centered programming. It is especially important for organizations to think about how to be trauma-informed before they are faced with a situation of supporting young people. When trauma-informed care is a priority, it can help program staff navigate behavioral issues, support youth in positive and developmentally appropriate ways, and allow youth to set a pace for growth that works for them. In this episode, we discussed steps programmatic staff can take to integrate a trauma-informed approach that addresses community and interpersonal violence into implementation, policies, and procedures.
