The early adolescent years bring emotional, social, and bodily changes which can inspire curiosity or anxiety in some youth if they do not know what to expect, leading them to question what is "normal". Youth have questions about the onset of puberty, new emotions, increased need for privacy and independence, and about attraction and affection for others. These questions present opportunities to provide open, honest and reliable information to develop healthy boundaries, relationships, and communication.
