Please join the Family and Youth Services Bureau's (FYSB’s) Division of Positive Youth Development (DPYD), Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention (APP) Program for a new grantee orientation webinar. FYSB will provide GD-SRAE grantees, Title V CSRAE grantees and CPREP grantees with a program overview and information about goals and objectives, program requirements, the medical accuracy review process, the role of the APP program office, and various types of support and assistance available to grantees.

Incarcerated youth face a significant yet challenging journey as they prepare for eventual reentry into their communities after being in secured care. Engaging multiple partners, including the justice system and community-based supports to wrap around and provide impactful services to address youths’ needs and challenges requires careful planning, coordination, and continuous quality improvement.

Across the country, grantees have expressed various challenges with recruiting and retaining youth in their programs. The purpose of this share and learn session is to provide Sexual Risk Avoidance Education (SRAE) grantees with an opportunity to discuss the barriers they face with recruitment and retention and exchange strategies they have used to bolster program enrollment, in hopes of strengthening grantees’ recruitment and retention toolkits ahead of the 2024–2025 school year.

August 2024 Evaluation Coffee Break: From Questioning to Answering: Developing Data Collection Plans

The SRAENE technical assistance team is continuing a short series of “evaluation coffee break” sessions to support grant recipients conducting descriptive evaluation activities. Descriptive evaluation activities can include assessing program implementation, pre-post changes in youth outcomes, longer-term change in youth outcomes, or correlations between youth or program characteristics and outcomes.

Collective trauma is a broad term that can refer to a wide variety of experiences, including environmental disasters, violence, and pandemics. It can also refer to oppression and discrimination toward a minority group from a majority group. Addressing collective trauma through collective healing requires a coordinated, rather than individual, approach to supporting people and communities. Collective impact is a strategy that can support collective healing. Join this webinar to learn more about collective trauma, collective healing and collective impact.

Trained and trusted staff and subrecipients are key to unlocking the full potential of your PREP programming. However, there are numerous barriers that can prevent the development of productive staff and subrecipient relationships. Whether it is difficulty in finding a suitable candidate; uncertainties related to training, professional development, and other supports; or turnover that requires you to start the whole process over again, the recruitment, development, and retention of staff and subgrantees can be tricky to navigate.

Co-regulation is critically important for any program that serves young people. It is the interactive process by which caring adults (1) provide warm supportive relationships, (2) promote self-regulation through coaching, modeling, and feedback, and (3) structure supportive environments. These practices intentionally foster the skills that youth need to build healthy and happy lives.

At this year’s conference, you will have the opportunity to connect, network, and learn new strategies to enhance Personal Responsibility Education Program and Sexual Risk Avoidance Education and outcomes.

Nearly all teens have access to and use social media. According to the Pew Research Center, in 2022, 95% of teens have used social media and the same percentage have access to a smartphone. This webinar, tailored for facilitators delivering Personal Responsibility Education Program (PREP) curricula, will highlight what we know about the research related to social media and youth. Participants will also have an opportunity to learn about tools and resources that are available from social media platforms to empower youth to have a safe experience on these platforms.
